A Special Time Piece
This is a dream. The logic will likely be a little messed up and obviously holes in the progression of the story are noticable.
T and I were on the road, somewhere in North Dakota. The reason for our journey was a mystery to me. The conversation was as non-existant as the landscape. We drove for some time silently before comming upon a little shop which I pointed to, signaling that I wanted to stop there. The place had four foggy looking people painted accross the whole front side of the building. They were all standing side by side.
We entered the shop and looked around a little. A black watch caught my eye. It was a metal watch with white accents. It was under a glass case so I asked the shop keeper if I could try it on. He opened the case from behind the counter and handed me the watch. It was a perfect fit. The three dollar tag did not seem right. “Is this really three dollars, sir?” I asked. The shop keeper confirmed the price and said,”This is a time piece though.” I told him with a smile on my face,”Of course it is. It’s a watch.” His face was calm and serious as he said,”This watch can be very dangerous. You can use it to go back in time.”
The watch looked good enough to me, I did not care that it was some novelty watch. It felt very well built. Very sturdy and heavy. Only a few minutes after pulling out of the parking lot T and I were back on the road. It was then when I noticed a dial that seemed to be a count down timer. I rolled it to two minutes.
T and I were pulling out of the parking lot again. I must have nodded off when I got in the car and dreamed that we were on the road. I rolled the dial again to see if it would do anything. A few moments after giving up on the dial I found myself sitting by my brother on a beach. “What are you doing here!? I thought you were with mom and dad, shopping.” he told me with a puzzled look. “Brother,” I told him,”you will not believe this! This watch makes me go back in time!” He did not believe me. So I told him to tell me something I wouldn’t know and that I’d go back a few minutes and tell him about the watch again and the secret he told me.
After spinning the dial once again I became worried about the delay. Fear came into me. I worried that the watch had been broken. My heart began beating very fast as adrenaline flooded my veins. Everything went black and I was back a few minutes again. Unsure if I had gone back in time and overlapped my other body I looked down uncomfortably at my lower half.
I told my brother the secret he told me and that I was from the future. “You better get back before it gets too late.” he said. A panic poured over me. The dial only went to twenty minutes. I must have been years away from my own time. Once I spun the dial to twenty I waited a few minutes for my body to shift through time once again. There was black once again.
